A Year Of "New & Different"
Before I went to law school, I loved to "theme" a year. One year was "the year of the elective" where I took a ton of classes at the local Recreation Center, and through U.C. Berkeley extension (photography, tap, jazz, cooking, wine-tasting, etc . . .). Another was the year of "do something new and different every week." I did this with a friend of mine and we had the best time. This was pre-internet, so it was a little harder to find inspiration. In conjunction with my recent effort to take my life back, I'm going to start this again. I'm going to run with a year of something new and different again. Then, I aimed for 52 things (one per week). That seems a little harder to do these days, even with my newly gained free time, so I'm going to try for twice a month. First up, I just signed up to take a flying trapeze class next week. Anyone want in on my plan?

You know I'm in. I'm thinking we'd better save the mimosas for after - ya think?
Definitely -- I'm thinking that having a buzz on while "flying" probably isn't the best idea. But I'm pretty sure I'll need a drink after . . . Can you imagine the firm's reaction to a pronouncement that I've "run off and joined the circus"?!
Um - have fun? Even if I did live in the same state as you all, there is no way in HELL I would do this. I have a paralyzing fear of heights. But I totally commend the idea! And if you ever want to go hurtling through white water, I'm in!
Lulu, are you afraid of clowns? I don't know why I think that, but if so, perhaps joining the circus might not be the best plan? Just a though!
Oh yikes, yes, I am absolutely petrified of clowns. I hate them. They are freaky beings that have no business pretending to be entertaining. Hate doesn't even begin to describe my loathing of clowns. Maybe the circus isn't such a great idea . . . But am I intrigued by the trapeze . . .
TJH2 - I am with you. After this experiment a couple years ago (http://pebble926.blogspot.com/search?q=trapeze) my feet are planted firmly on the ground - though I guess that isn't a guarantee of safety either. :)
Whitewater rafting would be fun. This "being outside and doing things" thing is something that I think that I could get used to (well, after I start doing it.)
